Interview with Eduardo Persian the book "Those who knew Borges tell" Editorial three axes, February 2000.
- In what position you are located, Eduardo Persian life and work of Borges in the literature?
- As a typical practice in Argentina, we ignore long Borges. We had to insist with him from Europe to begin to recognize it here. Is attributed to Roger Caillois be the discoverer of Borges, and something similar happened to us with Carlos Gardel, long regarded as a simple folk singer but in the end was a cultural personality of the Argentines. If I were to name two fundamental values \u200b\u200b- with our own contradictions would say that Jorge Luis Borges and Carlos Gardel are exponents of our region. Not invented but discovered outside from there, as it happened other meritorious, Julio Cortázar and Astor Piazzolla. It is as if we needed external approval to give value to better assimilate itself for any image from outside, but outside any cultural genuflection, Gardel, Borges fend for themselves without any provincial controversy.
- What attracted you most literary condition of Borges?
- Well, the most interesting thing I found in Borges from the literary point of view, is that he wrote as if he were writing. I feel like a game would return permanently using the complicity of the reader. Any complicity complicity easy but fun, linked to the game that invented to make jokes about himself and others. Leopoldo Lugones, a literary reference point between us, he defined it as "a man who was taken too seriously."
- What do you attribute Borges's fantasies?
- I think the great vein of Borges came not from literature but from the country, Borges was an Argentine doubt, and the inflection and the way he said things, I understand, they do the national writer par excellence. To read aloud what I imagine as long as those men who approached the fire in a camp kitchen, said, "and see Don, I'll tell you, this happened when it was the largest flood ninety ."... Borges began to relate well and in a country like Argentina, populated by the European, who has no jungle and shows a clear geography, a country which has had almost no rural literature because that has been reduced to three or four plays, the "national" would be more in the way of telling us that the thematic. And now I think that for that reason, Argentina rural literature is not so mysterious or enigmatic as it could have a wild country.
- Did he have any way to write?
no doubt that Borges was a highly cultured writer and provides details that are valuable literariamnte: Borges did not take distance from the text as we storytellers to not be involved. Borges dodged the first person and even gave her his opinion, and this is well appreciated in "Man on Pink Corner." In addition., Conditions in the personal touch - the eye, no more than four or five conversations between him and me, it made me imagine a writer more than a "hoodlum inconclusive." I thought embodied in a minstrel and pulled me so much that she wrote a story with this idea: "Borges, the Englishman, who knew payador counterpoint by a milonga Turdera bowling." ("Labyrinth of Gardel and the Englishman.")
- What was personally?
- Well, if you entered his confidence was Borges Buenos Aires and canchero a snob, so I saw since I met him by 1970. One of its most salient conditions was not to avoid, if encouraged him to have some detail ingenious though it was not a man who used a lot of ingenuity, the misappropriation of talent, but his wit dosed without falling into vulgarity graceless. He joked of himself and other writers: Federico García Lorca was ruled that a "professional Andalusian" and said that among the editors of the journal "Critique" of Buenos Aires in 1940, was "charged" from any of Buenos Aires. Borges was a writer who tirelessly corrected, a condition sometimes not highly regarded, and do not know if fucked with Alfonso Reyes, the Mexican, who used to recommend: "If you want to write well in Castilian Alfonso Reyes must read." He was also a tireless spell - "must be published for not following correct" - which was to delete the word "carver" in two very specific occasions. Mexicans said the site saves the expensive china cups and call it "trencher," and I hated that word. In "The Dead" says "there is a remote carver with a tarnished mirror moon" and "The Aleph" repeats, "Beatriz Viterbo, in front of the sideboard." Well, that took him out and said several times, he said, until he decided to "Beatriz Viterbo color profile." Another good example would be that "Man of La Esquina Rosada" knew two previous versions, some police review was published in the supplement to "Critical" and "Men fought, and then another before the final story.
- There are many who want to see a writer Borges purely witty, full of arguments perfect.
- is that Borges had fun writing, and the freshness of its literature going out there, and I esteem Borges a "conceited and canchero Buenos Aires" to read what you write with Adolfo Bioy Casares under the pseudonym H. Bustos Domecq, Six Problems for Don Isidro Parodi. " In this great book, written "in complicity" in 1942, hint at such a footballing joke, surely devised by Bioy and Borges to tell feigned surprise that manufactured and smiled. In the book they say Honorio Bustos Domecq "during Labruna intervenes, he was appointed Inspector of picking first, and then Public Defender." This was written in the year '42 when the River Plate football team was champion and they wrote do not know whether Brown or in the field of Vicente Casares, listening to the radio. Borges was never football fan but so I asked if the name was picked Labruna some announcer saying "brilliant Labruna intervention" and Borges smiled to include the scorer of the tournament, as a better name ... He gave the side the issues that intimately refused but kept his smile so conceited "That was a Adolfito occurrence." In another story of "Six Problems .." someone speaks of the figures of the zodiac and Don Isidro Parodi proposes that the name backwards. And instead of pronouncing "Toro" said "broken" to "ram" said "ronecar." So I told Borges that was not turning the words and he suggested "no, he pronounced them to vesre." And there I started to take me more confidence with Borges.
- How did you meet?
- I met him in 1971 or 1972, I was responsible a metallurgical company, but I made time to work with a literary magazine that was published in Lanús, "Athenaeum", which appeared almost seventy numbers and historians and autologous never knew. So my business and I was very often to the archive of the Biblioteca Nacional in Mexico Street and one day I wanted to interview Borges, who was the director. It was the fervor of the Peronist return of the seventies and really, who ran the library was José Edmundo Clemente, who came before him. There were three very young stewards, it occurs to me that one was named Pariente, flying the flags of the "deep transforamción should be done in country "and other slurs such as" national liberation "for example. There were two employees with whom I spoke ever, one was Zolezzi and another man, Ammon, and they were the ones who told me what happened. As they are not delegates asked Clemente an interview and this time they were seen by Borges, the boys made a series of approach of the type "make the revolution right now" and you'd think that Borges was shocked but the meeting ended told Zolezzi "we must attend to these guys. I agree with them on many things. "And the most asombtrado was the youth delegate because he like many others, wisdom was that Borges was a systematic reactionary. It Jorge Luis Borges true that every now and then sent a grotesquely reactionary views but in all his work does not suggest anything to the outskirts, the gaucho, black or common laburantes. And writers are qualified for what they have written ... Borges's office on Mexico Street was on the first floor and often he went up the elevator. Opposite was a dependency of the maritime prefecture, I think, and next to a tenement, a "convoy" typical of that area, Montserrat, San Telmo. And once, in summer, Borges kept his window open and someone down in the hallway of the tenancy, painstakingly sought to play a milonga on his guitar. Zolezzi then asked "do you want to close the window? "and the old Borges said" no, it's nice milonga. May the man never learn it's still playing well. "Still, Borges had an idea of \u200b\u200bthe milonga Taconera retrechera say, very typical of their age, not the nostalgic and sadder version that later became the milonga. Perhaps because about the tango he had the logic of the Argentines in Buenos Aires, see glorious past, and talk about golden ages as denying the transformations instrumental and tastes that were happening. Although he knew well what was some dispute remained tango Piazzolla and once, in a meeting where we were, there was a man ready to entertain with Borges a guitar when he was tired of opinions on everything, even the Pope saying it was "an official of the church" and a lady was very angry. Then the guitar began to sing "Jacinto Chiclana" Borges and asked if he remembered the author of this milonga music with his verses, and the old man replied "I do not know, I agree, I think it was Guastavino" . To avoid naming Piazzolla, who was the author of music. He had a vision of bucolic and frozen-twenties tango.
- There are two stages in Borges, a Creole and another linked to cosmopolitanism?
- Really, though some exaggerations mocked of Creole, Borges never ceased to be a Creole. Once I knew I would answer, I asked if Macedonio Fernández played guitar and he responded as expected: "I think he liked to tune it and removed some pictures with her, but never really heard him play it." And speaking of Ricardo Güiraldes said "yes, Güiraldes played guitar, but do you know why? Because I believed that this would defend the Creole." Borges rejected the samba danced by "Chinese" dressed in blue and white and the trappings of nationalist fervor, as he did with religion. "My mother is Catholic and all the ladies from Argentina, right?" and told how his father once asked him to take communion, "although it was a ceremony absurd" and he refused. "My sister decided to take communion and Catholic, I decided not to take it and I am a freethinker, yet, although that also seems to be somewhat outdated freethinker." To enjoy a chat with the speaker Borges had tamed the twists and answers used to repeat. He enjoyed doing it and for example, the Marxists gave many grievances as Peronism, who accused him of everything, and with the help of time must be judged Borges and Carlos Gardel, another great reference, criticizing their works are none. Of course, Borges often deserved to be judged by the "oral Borges," which was certainly a provocative, but either way I feel and imagine as a snob and canchero Buenos Aires, leaning on the counter of a neighborhood bowling - these I met-with a fag in the corner of his mouth that if you take it away, discovered beneath a grin. A knowing smile "not ignore me, fuck I'm talking." Elegant intellectualism of "The Nation" or schematic leftism failed to see the profile of the guitar in the yard, - those singers who knew my father, who wore a bow tie and a dark jacket. My portrait of Borges is linked to that image and not another.
- You do not link this fascination with something snob?
- See, he said that the hoodlum was a literary invention, and from that came the real attraction permanent provocation. I repeat, Borges would have loved to be a minstrel bowling and having the adventures those of the real hoodlums, and that he confessed saying he had grown up behind a colonial canceled. Although in the end, a second ballot, he made fun of it. Once he went to walk with Francisco Luis Bernardez and Carlos Mastronardi for the southern district, La Boca, barracks, looking to find some open tavern where they discovered the men of courage, hoodlums or knife; and it turned out that night found nothing open and ask "what you recovered, Borges?" he half smiled, "and nothing. That was a terrible cold and we were three dreamers wasting our time." Let's say if a place is the Jorge Luis Borges who laughs Argentine myths is "Six Problems for Don Isidro Parodi", written in partnership with Adolfo Bioy Casares. And if Borges had not painted those characters have been forgotten.
- Have you tried long before he died?
- Well, in Mexico Street Library talked a few times in the brief time that I told you, by the seventies, but then I saw him and treat mid-1983. He should go home from a writer friend, Maria Luisa Biolcati, and me to accompany him into the talk I went to look for Maipu Street where he lived. There he attended a lady Fanny and was the same day he had surgery to Beppo, her cat, who gave him a family "but was called Pepo. Imagine, a horrible name. Beppo So I named him as a character of Byron and cat learned and lived ", was used to repeat the explanation. I remember seeing him tie his tie, looking out of a darkened room and Mrs. Fanny helped him. We had to go to the street Charcas, to a meeting where I would make him the questions and I reiterated my name. "Yeah, an Italian name, but also may have some Sephardic origin. Persico can come from Persia." I told him that he was also a similar result to Damascus and he wanted to explain his "yes, but surely comes from Italy. Instead mine has Portuguese ancestry. Borges mean bourgeois." Few know the number of liberals who were outraged by that phrase and I thought "this old man I care for is charging me, then asked me about a word," arcane ", Shorter would find in a dictionary, and when I found it "Arcane, mystic, secret" with a proper pronunciation Remedios de Escalada. There the old man said something mystical and secret and "I think it has to do with time, is not it?". It was what they call a guy with style, those that nest on the speaker to ask and if you're a stupid cocky, lost. It was a condescending old man and two or three days I visited in the afternoon, I read a few sonnets lunfardos to name Lenin, Pirandello and another, which seemed to him "an inmate who writes for intellectuals." One criticism which I later revival was a fierce critic Borges.
- You mentioned some of Borges's relationship with the press.
- Yes, he had differences with some journalists Like many people who believed that only knew Borges books and remembered the fire ship from a journalist who asked whether he knew the head coach of the football team. Borges insisted the type when he said he did not know until the end the old man apologized "excuse me my ignorance." Another had committed suicide but that right there like the cat Beppo journalist, did not learn and continued to live, and when asked if he really did not know the name of the technician told me "Of course I heard that name, listen to the radio every morning" . For Borges at the bottom was a "normal person" ... When asked if Victoria Ocampo was a beautiful beautiful woman, answered "I do not know, I knew when I was twenty years." And yes, I remember talking to him about women, "mines" that the Cholulans supposed to not be able, and ventured around the older woman was more beautiful "because the beauty of the twenty is almost mechanical, instead a woman of forty behind sensed his eyes look. " The phrase was something like this and said if he had rehearsed the previous night and smiled "No, no, I repeat it long ago." That's why I was a snob and canchero Buenos Aires seeking the appoggiatura in the speaker, who never pontificated perhaps because as any self-respecting Buenos Aires, I was afraid of ridicule.
- was so radical and controversial with his politics?
- It was like I said, a somewhat provocative gratuitto sometimes, just because. From "El Cid" said it was a thing unreadable; of "Don Quixote" might have a light joke about some chapters of the book but without the "Quijote" We could not understand the history of Spain. Calderon de la Barca claimed it was an invention of the Germans, by Guy de Maupassant once ruled it was no great storyteller, and before dying had improved because "died insane but life had been stupid." Of these conjectures Borges filled many volumes, such as saying the English speaking bad English, but who respected him "because they consider a foreign language." It would, therefore, to Borges the number one Argentine culture of this century, and still did not understand his national profile and its radical. I think we could only compare the grandeur of Jorge Luis Borges to Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, another titan founder of our literature. And see you, so contradictory in a country like ours, the most representative of our culture could not fail to be contradictory. Sarmiento, Borges, Facundo, Peron, say three or four broadcast, once Borges spoke in favor of Pinochet but when he learned well than it was in Argentina's military regime Videla, Massera and that the criminal gang, they did much damage to his criticism. Which were published mainly in Europe. In the process of these murderers, the Argentine military's told "Le Monde" and the entire French press, "When I was a kid I wanted to be military, but over time I became more cowardly and less stupid." He painted on the military junta, of whom asked not to be used and be clear that he did not take upon itself - as Ernesto Sabato-be moral and ethical reference Argentines. But best bet is to Borges: understand that in any context, Argentina ideológcias lines have always been very tense irreconcilable Peronism and anti-Peronism, and that today we tend to forget, with Borges one could speak of worldly matters and when someone told him that the military process in Argentina could be more of the bloody internal Perón, Jorge Luis Borges said " this is a very coherent thought. "
- How should the reputation of Borges to the media?
- Borges I guess, like Gardel, in the context of the current concentration of media, globalization through, have gone unnoticed. Gardel might not have become what it was if I were to fight today's multimedia to chew and eat anything. Equal Borges was never a popular writer, it was a provocative, there is a good oral Borges, but he was never a popular writer named in the street. Well, now I wonder who are these ... But there are great things in the works of Borges: his "Conjectural Poem" in relation to murder Francisco Narciso de Laprida September 22, 1829 by montoneros de Alda, is a monumental piece of history. There, in that poem, he describes his Americanism and although we can be accused of anything, Borges was here.
- How much prefer the work of Borges?
- Your stories. "The Dead" is great not only for his shot. "Man on the Corner Pink, "a painting requires a time of suburb of Buenos Aires, Borges perfect quality in every piece. When the character Francisco Real gives pechazo screams and runs to the door of the brothel, Borges, the reporter, who is back at the door, seeing exclaims, "the man was like the voice." Seven Words no more and leaves a definite concept of type, that was the storyteller Borges as perfect and final assembling phrases showing his tireless ability to correct. The Theirs was a generation that wrote very well and many felt that Bioy Casares was superior, but both are influenced. Bioy was a mundane and a "sportsman", while Borges was a library, I heard some time, be influenced.
- What is generally forgotten in the work of Borges?
- Now, I can think her story "Juan Muraña." It would be nice for people to re-read to understand the approach almost essay on the hoodlum. Also forgot the set in the Uruguay, in "The Dead" places the action in a town called San Jose, I think, is a painting. Borges was a connoisseur of manners but was unable to write a bad word out there. At a meeting I said "see, I'm going because it swells me the ball" and said "he's right, me too" and we left. On another occasion, on television, you asked if he had known some real cute and said "yes, at Montevideo" was that a man had been disrespectful to the house and the owner, who was a man of action but very respectful, was the next room and returned with two knives . He offered his house who offend "you choose." "And what did the other?" Asked the host of the program. "And what could I do? Be narrowed." Borges said the same as my old taxi driver or bus driver ever. Or define your cat with an inflection Beppo shopkeeper, "a cat that bum opportunists." First of all, was a man who respected the authenticity of people and could not stand Cholula hence his refusal to journalists. You're not a journalist, right? "" No. What is against journalists? "And repeated something and heard something" They are very sound. "With real people was really fun and even laugh in entrusting" Borges you will not be a braggart frustrated? "Saying "I think so."
was these talks in mid-1983 and did not allow for more. He was already a helpless old man in exile of blindness surrounded by people that sometimes they thought someone from the television, and we should respect each . He died in '86. In short, we met many people infatuated important, athletes, jet set news, political and tiling several, but if you frequent their literary work - the actual identification of a writer Jorge Luis Borges was really important. And that's the difference. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::

Labyrinth
Gardel and the Englishman ; Story
And it was there when the Englishman, who excelled in the office milonga beverage Rosa, back Turdera, Gardel began to unwind on and what happened to her strange death. Today I confess I did not understand his own way just like that to combine the words and understand them, and the man walked breathing in another sentence. Because the Jorge Luis, the Englishman, who was also unbeaten payador the bowling of IberRed was good to see you rest your hands on the neck of the guitar speaking to Carlos Gardel, the Creole Thrush. And as the poets imagination always add up in greeting, it was not easy to decipher each line of the Englishman but recovered his voice labored and dull eyes when he heard talk of such utopias that people love. - The true story of fiction requires the humanized, there is an insatiable statistical haze of imagination and myth - Jorge Luis gave the Englishman at the tavern fragrant olive and wine Moscato. Fog of imagination and myth - repeated and rearranged at the ceiling and a hand on another hammock on the guitar without thinking said the stories of Sancho and Don Quixote in Spain's history would not make head or tail. And there followed by placing each word in your site, like the character I had a story without knowing if he remembered receiving the voices or just to say. It was not easy to keep the idea, and I distract myself if contention is not meant to solicit the death of Gardel and taste the salt nourishing truth, enlivened by the Englishman believes that any paragraph of the tragedy of June '35 Gardel had kinship with the truth .
- The Chronicle said that Carlos Gardel, the most respected artist in South America, was burned in a plane crash in Colombia, but that just keep close to the truth and by the Uruguayan historian Sarnari P. Wilson, also that fantasy should discarded - stammered almost inaudibly.
payador was nice to see the counterpoint arrived in the Way of the troops, told with the simplicity of those who appreciate the extraordinary and sniffles in silence, going to digress for a tunnel of remembrance. I like this story and I confess that this unexpected Gardel and Jorge Luis Borges, the Englishman, I pass in hours of a secondary reality, impenetrable, but equally recognize the faces of those parishioners to look aloof in front of the minstrel that going to Switzerland to die, I should wake perverse rituals and some tears on television. Of those people no one forgave the pale Englishman supporting his chin on the guitar, that have died so far evades them a picture of the final gasp, a trophy to show smiley funeral deployment. So today I feel to have lived there on borrowed time and no clocks, another instance where I take notice that the Wilson P. Sarnari, which the Englishman has a long conversation in Montevideo, told him that no research data of "Passion and Death Carlos Gardel "knew. Namely: the hours before the Creole Thrush before boarding his final flight in Medellín, if it did, and the name of the enigmatic woman who approached him for an autograph and then disappear forever without ever was recognized, and other assumptions that P Wilson . Sarnari you did this time. Because there were many inventions that Jorge Luis payador the Englishman despise that night, though without taking all the prestige of mystery as proposed by the other.
- also said the accident came by that young man Lepe, friend of the singer and continuous watering of Amado Nervo - Englishman slid his literary trial that a tangle with bullets blasted sentimental all in attendance. It also murmured that keep up the good humor Argentinian pilot was hanged with a white lengue taxiing aircraft, and more homely phrases because the real death of Gardel continue its enigma. Even if the bearer of a secret underestimates the memories, as will confess, the whole secret truth is unbearable - the Englishman seemed weary to reiterate that these ideas are the Montevideo would have relied on Wilson P. Sarnari historian, who after listening to the milongas Englishman who would eventually legend, began giving relationship of the "True Death of Gardel" and other issues. As before the accident, the idol, was accompanied only by him and Sarnari Gardel only just, talking about the environment that surrounds the man overwhelmed by the adulation of others, this diffuse and despotic imposition of the absurd. Also told us he knew the Englishman put up with a firm footing Uruguayan historian parliaments to commemorate the sadness of a lonely Gardel, puppet and magic fleeting gardeleo lost in shady alleys.
- Carlos Gardel, artist-turned-virtuoso and embezzled by local partiquino grandchildren smile and strange rock and roll to the word tango. Gardel was able to retire to because time was not a spendthrift and his memory was so early that struck Wilson P. Sarnari entrust their fear of the coming times and where to resonate the echoes of his voice then he should burn in Medellín. "See Sarnari someday make me a doll advertising. What a shame!" - I would have said the dark-haired del Abasto, plus Sarnari anticipate the misuse of their suburban turning the loafers would never absent from the tabloid headlines that would inform his appearances in Quito and Bogota, his face distorted by fire, or ircerdio, but acclaimed fine-tuned and the first stanza. And there were other images: the waiting time before Gardel at the aerodrome before resuming their journey, their true females and the uncertain trend in his crotch, the exact location born and many other feats erratic, with millionaire suicides a child who happens to sing like him but a little different.
- Much nonsense was annotated by the nocheros as if they spoke of virtues - the historian told me Sarnari and then predicted the final merciless Gardel that would set the freezers of art. Gardel is paradigmatic, no one sing like him, repeated the mediocre, and then lamented that paradigm, a word that I would discard and forgettable, and the opinion of Enrico Caruso, "Gardel had a tear in his voice, that mother would an ambiguous praise of Italian. Jorge Luis
the Englishman
loosened the corners without reaching a smile and watched as he counted the Uruguayan historian Sarnari P. Wilson, a Carlos Gardel lonely after being mistaken for another passenger on a plane that never addressed, would continue with its sleek tuxedo, his hat and he inclined to paint bow tie, and even wearing his palace gaucho attire forgivable. Gardel always singing and smiling as anyone, although he began to have strong crowds and stockists of a "Gardel, finished product." He no less, The Great Modernizing become a fixture in comedy on the waterfront boardwalk, or Chaplin third held in a mad and rushed to cascotazos for any soccer bar.
- One night away from my homeland I heard him sing a tango despicable Gardel, who never appreciate - said the Englishman of his harvest, and yet to hear a certain street in Palermo revived with honeysuckle climbing a wall, and suddenly I cried. That memory is dictated by the voice of Gardel friend and perhaps, because it is a secret popular in the villages, do not you think? - Asked the Englishman and went rummaging other words Sarnari P. Wilson heard that night away: Carlos Gardel placed in a tank called geriatric old, rehearsing in the mirror that shiny hair and bright smile but ignored by other elders ruined that also mean top. According to Sarnari The Creole Thrush may be no return another body lying in a nursing home, prior tomb where sings "maybe one night me death stalk formation, and Buenos Aires chau not see you again" until they have a nurse silenced a slap.
- Also, after that statement so powerful, - a smile Borges suggested payador - Uruguayan Sarnari slipped a new enigma. "Poor Charlie, mistaking him for a fool disco ... And at the end
Jorge Luis the Englishman, before or after dying in Geneva rocking in the shaft of his guitar or his staff, who knows, a taproom reciénvenido us to cut short the story.
- Do not create more zonceras, gentlemen - a shrill voice won the restrained, the fact is that the June 24, 1935 at Carlitos Gardel chansonnier insurmountable failed to upload it to the airplane. Does he sit in a pileup that neither lift flight? Come on, it was no Morocho gil.
- But how sad it would be a Gardel without poetry, without the eternal - the shimmering culminated payador milonga is sported by a Turdera still life in the day that suits you best. _________________________________________________________________________________
One such Borges, Julian's friend Carol
As soon as the meeting came to comment on the significant poetry and other witchcraft, without loosening his cane the old Borges asked to take some air. - One day people will walk to the south - said looking at the sky.
- Y be oriented according to Las Tres Marias, as ancient mariners - Julian seconded him to take his arm.
- O God fulfilling some, another uncertain constellation - the old man suggested a smile and continued.
- Walk slowly sir, no tow. I just want to stretch your legs and let a little ingenuity to talk about death, the Pope and the fatality time. It swells and I assure her.
- I think - Julian replied, dodging a dog lying on the sidewalk. Would you like animals, Borges?
- I do not dislike. Once I got a cat named Pepper, a horrible name, I named him Beppo as a character of Byron, but the cat did not even notice and continued to live. Died recently, I miss him. Julian
could play a companion and agreed to hear the similarity of Beppo with the tigers, that other appeal allegory of "the greatest Argentine writer, as supposed to be born would be a abacanado Borges dog cocker spaniel, owned by a veteran brushed it without leaving garbage cans trumpet at dawn. Borges certainly affected would be a living dog, a dreamer needs - and smiled Julian for his idea so vulgar.
- Out of the horses that attracted me and never tried to close, I had almost no animal world - the old man insisted. Beppo was a cat opportunists that bum, to be deceived without worry, always slept on the couch. Once I photographed with a dog that was not mine, and I do not know, I always preferred the riddle posed by cats.
- Yes, there were pictures in his home that suggested that. I remember.
- I, sir. But was another mistake because in truth, I regret not having been a famous knife, and sometimes we forget the feeling of starting a shitty neighborhood eel that was the Maldonado, among the shouts of the other guys. Today I would like to have that memory, but I rejected that to linger with the written word. Sometimes reluctantly, I assure you.
- No one imagines you necessities of pasture, Borges, and less sunk in the mud of Maldonado to take an eel.
- It's always surrounded me wrong beings, journalists sound, bored intellectuals who suspect or who I am. I can not imagine the world without this city that I could never leave completely. Sometimes asked What fun today people here and they told me things outside, silly. No one dares to talk to me as usual with any conceited and canchero Buenos Aires, both meant to be. So I hope that one day people will walk to the south.
No tow, Julian held the walk of the old "no partner" after a gate colonial servant, blind, transparent skin, turning the syllabicate English Borges mean bourgeois ", and always, milongas and knife pattern imaginary.
- One winter night I came with some friends in this neighborhood Barracks, to see if some handsome relojeábamos those who invented the literature. You not believe that at last all is a literary invention? See, on this occasion it was cold and we went to tremendous Mastronardi and another, Bernardez, bordering the Creek without finding a single open or still life of those who mention the tangos. Rituals stores frequented by people to laugh loud and not taken seriously, that way of being smart.
Julian knew this story and used to give his version.
- If you do not get bored, I want to remind you of a beverage store and two minstrels of counterpoint. The two singers were provoked with his eyes. One was the Englishman, "but she had her face, Borges. The man wore a dark silk neck and shoes heavenly race stripes, showing guarangos uppers and rocking in the neck of the guitar, or the staff, go figure. And he walked challenging "came south because I'm looking for a man of courage and say that here have known." The other singer, flower mounted on the ear, the six strings tuned sloppy and just said "I did not tag, arrogant Englishman, you'll be sorry."
- I like that, sir. I heard it once and it sounds nice, you see - said Borges and better arm said Julian.
- then go on. Galician attending bowling undock a large knife in a corner and giving a hell of the grimy planazo cutting board luncheon ended the counterpoint.
